THE VISION
What began as one opportunity became a vision for the whole community.
When the City of Austin first envisioned the redevelopment of the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, it set out to create a landmark public-private partnership centered on community, sustainability, and shared civic connection. Creative Action was ultimately selected to receive a parcel of land adjacent to the neighborhood’s public middle school to build a community-serving destination.
Instead of building in isolation, Creative Action chose collaboration.
The Community Arts Collaborative is a bold, 25,000-square-foot shared home designed for multiple arts organizations to thrive under one roof. Located at the heart of Greater Austin’s growth, this vibrant cultural hub will bring high-quality arts education, creative expression, and social-emotional learning directly to children, families, and neighbors. By combining strengths, sharing physical and administrative infrastructure, and working toward a common purpose, we are building a sustainable model where creativity and community come together.
When mission-driven organizations share resources and work toward a common purpose, they accomplish far more for their communities than they ever could alone.

THREE IMPACT AREAS
The building is where this work starts, not where it ends.

Shared Resources, Stronger Organizations
Nonprofits often struggle under the weight of isolated facility and administrative overhead. By sharing physical space, performance venues, and operational expenses under one roof, our partners lower costs and redirect vital funds straight into their community missions.
Expanded Access, More Opportunities
Positioned within reach of East Austin, Del Valle, Manor, and surrounding communities, the Collaborative opens doors to high-quality arts education year-round. From morning workshops to evening performances, it will be a welcoming destination where people across generations, cultures, and neighborhoods gather and belong.
Creative Young People, Stronger Communities
Through music, theater, creative writing, visual arts, and collaborative projects, young people learn to take risks, communicate, build empathy, and express their unique voices. With real-world creative mentors and peer organizations, the youth who come here will build the vital human skills needed to lead, innovate, and shape a more humane future.

The Community Arts Collaborative is more than a physical space—it is a bold, two-story, 25,000-square-foot destination purpose-built to bring people together. Designed from the ground up to cultivate connection, creativity, and administrative strength, every foot of the building translates our shared vision into daily action.
Built for Working, Making, and Performing
From morning until evening, weekdays through weekends, the Collaborative will come alive with purpose. Our layout seamlessly balances dedicated creative studios with vibrant public areas, giving our community room to imagine, practice, and shine.
What’s Inside
Classrooms and studios equipped for hands-on learning, social-emotional growth, and creative exploration.
Dedicated venues engineered for dynamic performances and rehearsals.
A welcoming lobby and community space will welcome students, families, artists, and neighbors into a shared environment of belonging.
Shared offices, meeting rooms, and communal spaces meant to exchange ideas, build joint programming, and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration.
